Chief Executive Officer and founder of Izelia Garment, Textile, Design and Training Hub, Isatu Harrison, said she started the journey in 2014 after she graduated with a BA in psychology and later pursued a master’s degree.
She continued that she started doing fashion design, but later went back to college and studied fashion and tailoring, where she was chosen as the fashion designer to watch.
She opined that fashion design has taken over the world, noting that there is work to be done in the gara industry. “We have formed a cooperative in Makeni for gara and a showroom at Aberdeen where we train tailors,” she disclosed.
“We have tailors, but the problem is the finishing aspect of it. So, I have a vision to do quality stuff that will compete internationally,” she said, adding that she has 37 permanent employees on monthly salary. “I want to contribute to the growth of the country and leave a legacy for my generation yet unborn,” she went on.
